“Seriously. you have no idea how difficult it is going to be for me to hit the "send" button when i finish typing this message. I've attached what has got to be the worst photo ever taken of me. I don't recognize the person in the photograph. I'm so glad i finally feel like me in my skin again. it's been a long time.

Geez, I must have lost 10 lbs in my face alone. I have a chin and cheekbones now! And that belly fat! Yuck. And to think I was worried that lifting was going to make me look like a man?! Anything would have been better (looking like a dude included) than the look captured in attached photo. People are going to think I had plastic surgery. That's it! ‘Not plastic surgery. Just CrossFit.’

Casey, thanks for helping me dig out from underneath all that fat. You can say what you want but you've played a big part in all of this so i'm going to keep saying so. :-)”

I guess that’s the new slogan, “Not plastic surgery. Just CrossFit”

BEFORE

AFTER

Before and After

Lauren Parker -

Some times incredible things happen at CrossFit Alexandria. I realize that we’ve only been here for a few months, but it seems that we’ve had our share of great moments already. Last night we had not one but two “give you chills” things happen. First, as we were doing box jumps the boys decided that they need to go a little higher & started stacking bumper plates on top of the box. The problem was that Alice (the only woman in the group) was using the same box that the boys were. Alice, not wanting to cause anyone any trouble quietly kept jumping as the boys added plates. Tell you the truth, no one really even thought about it as it was happening -  everybody just kept jumping. Then the boys were told that to really do something special they’d need to put four plates on top of the box. Of course, testosterone kicked in & they promptly threw two more plates on which made the box 36 inches. I don’t know if you guys can visualize how high 36 inches is, but it’s probably a few inches higher then your standard couch back or the back of your office chair at its highest setting. Go ahead, I know you’re curious - get up & try to jump over the chair you’re sitting in, but make sure you set your chair at its highest . Now, if you’re not wiping the blood off of your knees, shins & face think about this - Alice is 40 years old (she’ll be 41 on the 17th) & the mother of four (count ‘em...4) beautiful children. I imagine you already know what happened next. Alice took a few steps back, smiled, & proceeded to jump right up on top of the 36 inch box without even an ounce of fear. I’ve never seen a woman jump higher than a 33 inch hurdle, much less ON a 36 inch box. Not bad for a 41 year-old-mother-of-four.

41 & 4 Kids? 36 inches, Seriously?

Here’s the picture just to prove it really happened.

Before and After

Tim Busch-

Sometimes you don’t see yourself the same way others do. Then you look at your before & after pictures side by side & throw up in your mouth a little. Tim Busch sent me these pictures last week & I couldn’t wait to put them on the site. I’ve also attached the email that he sent with them. Tim has only lost about 16 actual pounds, but he’s dropped 7% body fat, has gained almost 11 pounds of muscle, & dropped almost 5 inches off his waist. These are the most dramatic before & after pictures I’ve ever seen considering he’s only lost 16 pounds. Unbelievable job Tim, it’s been a pleasure.

  1. “Dude, I’m so sickened by these “before” pictures. I never realized how fat I was. I never considered myself a fat guy, just the possessor of some irritating love handles. Clearly I was more than a lovehandle. Even so, I’ve wondered in these past 9 months how Crossfit (as well as you trainer freaks) have helped “shape me up.” When I decided to put these pictures side by side, I almost threw up in my mouth. And then, I high-fived myself in the mirror. I can’t believe how much better I look. But, more significantly, I do know how much better I’m feeling. Aside from the boring health benefits and scientology of it all (sorry Casey, I mean science), my confidence level has increased proportional to the decrease in my bf%. I really never thought I would be one of those guys with “before and after” pictures. But hell, bring ‘em on if I’m gonna show change. Anyway, here you go.  Part of me doesn’t want to put these out there for you to show the world. It shows that I was weak.  But, my focus now is continuing to become Crossfit strong. These “before’s” are in my past, so do with them what you want.” Tim Busch.
